In Thailand, education is a little different than we are used to, which is not so strange, after all, when we cross the border into Belgium or France, even that closeby education differs to in our own country. The basic education in Thailand is present in every village and like home its for free. But there are differences that we find very strange, as we used to encourage children to think for themselves, to investigate and to take the initiative that you will not easily find in the Thai education.
The way of teaching in Thailand is different than we are used to and I feel it's the way it happened early last century in the Netherlands. The teacher is particularly active and the children are mainly engaged in remembering what has told the teacher. Just as we had to learn the tables by heart, so goes the bulk of education. Computers are only just and sparsely penetrated the Thai education, making it even more seems that education behind one couple decades.
In addition to the public schools are in Thailand also many private schools where education is better, but not every Thai can afford it.
